Department of Neonatal ICU

Your Trusted Partner in NICU Expertise

At MRRCH, our NICU Department is dedicated to providing high-quality care for newborns who require specialised medical attention. We provide a range of key features and services to ensure the well-being and optimal development of our precious little patients.

When a baby is born there are a lot of changes he or she needs to adapt to. Once delivered, the baby is no longer dependent on his/her mother for blood supply and placenta. In some cases, the baby may have trouble during the transition outside the womb which is when they need intensive medical care.

When may your baby need NICU?

In cases where the mother has:

  • Multiple pregnancies
  • High-risk pregnancy
  • Excess or lack of amniotic fluid
  • Diabetes, thyroid, STDs, hypertension or other medical complications

In cases where the baby is/has:

  • In need of surgery
  • Born small or early (preterm and small for gestational age)
  • Sepsis (infection)
  • Heart and lung abnormalities
  • Genetic mutations
  • Neonatal jaundice
  • Lack of oxygen causing changes in baby’s organ systems (asphyxia)
